There are two main ways to vape medical marijuana in Ohio. Dispensaries offer vaporizing cartridges and pens, or you can vape marijuana flowers with a dry herb vaporizer. Ohio law classifies possession of a Schedule I controlled substance as a felony. The chemical compound tetrahydrocannibanol (THC) is a Schedule I controlled substance and, therefore, possession of pure THC is possibly a felony.
The Ohio Revised Code creates an exception to the rule, specifically stating that it is a misdemeanor offense to possess the marijuana or hashish plant (which contains THC). Hash is defined under Ohio law as “the resin or a resin preparation contained in marijuana, either in solid form or in a liquid concentrate, liquid extract, or liquid distillate. Cannabis is legal for qualified patients with a licensed card. Medical cannabis is legal in Ohio, but recreational cannabis is not.
The state only allows medical use for patients who qualify. And smoking or vaping marijuana is not allowed at all, not even medically. You need a vaporizer that is specifically designed to vaporize dried herbs in order to vaporize the medical marijuana flower. This means that Delta 8 THC and Delta 8 products, such as vaporizer cartridges, disposable vaporizers, gummies, tinctures and capsules, remain fully legal throughout Ohio, although it is advisable to review the laws periodically, as that can always change.
